Getting Here From The UK

By Air:

  • British Airways from London Heathrow

  • Easyjet from London Gatwick and Bristol

  • Ryanair from London Stansted and Edinburgh

Not all these services operate all the year round or every day. As the whole of the Tarn and surrounding departments offer endless opportunities for exploring, I strongly recommend the hire of a car.

By Train:

  • Eurostar to Paris Gare du Nord

  • TGV Paris Gare Montparnasse or TEOZ Gare d’Austerlitz to Toulouse Matabiau

  • Toulouse Matabiau to Gaillac

I will collect you from Gaillac station free of charge

By Car:

  • Night Ferry Portsmouth St Malo, Brittany Ferries; drive to overnight stay Hotel La Citadelle, Blaye; drive to Cahuzac-sur-Vere, arrive lunchtime

or

  • Night Ferry Portsmouth Le Havre, LD Lines; drive to overnight stay Auberge de l’Etang, Magnac-Bourg (just off A 20); drive to Cahuzac-sur- Vère, arrive lunchtime

If you take the Portsmouth St Malo route the Hotel la Citadelle in Blaye has a beautiful setting and the food is excellent. Although the rooms are rather small the view over the Gironde Estuary is well worth it.

Hotel La Citadelle, Blaye

If you travel the Portsmouth-Le Havre route, the Auberge de l’Etang is just off the A20 south of Limoges. From either hotel it is about 150 miles to Les Heures Claires.  If you want to drive it in one go, it is about 500 miles from either St Malo or Le Havre.

The cheapest way of driving is by cross-channel ferry Dover Calais, overnight stop at Chartres (chambres d’hotes at Seresville recommended) then south via A20, leaving at Caussade.

Finding Les Heures Claires

From Toulouse Airport head for the Periphérique Intérieure and then take signs for the A68 to Albi. Leave the A68 at Exit 9 signposted Gaillac and Cordes and follow the signs to Cordes. The D922 Gaillac – Cordes road goes through Cahuzac.  In the centre of the village turn left off the D922, taking the narrow street that goes past the Mairie and past the church. Once past the church the street opens out into a small square and Les Heures Claires is the house with blue shutters at the head of the square.

If you enter Cahuzac from the direction of Vieux turn left at the Credit Agricole Bank and immediately left again opposite the Mairie and follow the directions above.

If using GPS please enter Place de Maar rather than Rue de la Breche as your final destination.
